DESCRIPTIVE TEXT ABOUT : USB OTG

  

    Hello all, my name is Dina Rahayu from the faculty of computer science, reguler A. in this vidio        i will explain what is OTG and what does it for us. oke first

What does USB OTG mean and function?

    USB OTG (On The Go) is a specification of USB 2.0 that makes Android devices such as smartphones or tablets act as a host or master to other devices connected to it, such as a USB Flashdrive, digital camera, printer, keyboard or mouse.In other words, with this USB OTG your smartphone device can control other devices connected to it. Smartphones will know what to do if there is a device such as a USB Flashdrive, or digital camera, or keyboard that is connected to a smartphone. Almost like a computer or laptop that controls an external device such as a keyboard or mouse that is plugged in via a USB port

Does my andoid device support USB OTG?

There are saveral ways to find out whether our android device support USB OTG or not, including:

  1. If your android has been produced in the past 3 years, most likely it already support USB OTG 
  1. Look at the product packaging. If there  is a USB OTG logo, it means that support USB OTG 
  1. Finally, use a special application such as USB OTG checker which you can download on the playstore. This application can help determine whether you android device support USB OTG or not.


Suggestion : In order to use it with saveral external devices. you should also use a USB hub with a charger port. we can use a charger or power bank to keep the android device battery from drainning. or you can also use a USB OTG which is a compelete with a USB hub + charger port as shown below.

    What are the benefits of USB OTG?

   The benefits are of course very many. With USB OTG you can make your android device like a computer. Devices thatr so far can only be ''read'' on a computer or laptop, with USB OTG these devices can also be read on android devices. For example, by using USB OTG we can directly save data on a android into a flashdrive while traveling without having to go trough a cimputer firts. there the memory of our android device is unlimited.

 

USB OTG Cable

    To take advantage of this USB OTG function, beside the android device already support USB OTG, or USB OTG cetified, USB OTG cable are different from ordinary USB cable, The USB OTG cable has a special design that tells the android device to act as a host or master to other device conected to it.

 

 


 

 

Physically, this cable is like an ordinary cable, one end is a type B male micro USB that is plugged into an android device the same as yhe end of the USB charger cable that is plugged into anddroid. while the other end is a type A female USB type which is the same as the port USB on a laptop or computer. So thet external device such as flash drive, keyboards and mice that are indeed the end of the USB cable type A male can be pluggin into the end of the USB OTG cable.
