  • What the different between social media and vidio conferencing
Answer : 
  • Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. The Office of Communications and Marketing manages the main Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube accounts. Whereas Video conferencing is a live video-based meeting between two or more people in different locations using video-enabled devices. Video conferencing allows multiple people to meet and collaborate face to face long distance by transmitting audio, video, text and presentations in real time through the internet.

Vocalbulary : match website 1-3 to types a-e. there are two extra types. Can you give other examples of each type?

  1. ~Dedicated system~ a system this is used for only one purpose, e.g. for video conferencing only, nothing else.
  2. ~Remote control~ a device that can control the video conferencing system from a distance, without wires. It can be passed from person to person easily.
  3. ~Multipoint control~ unit a device that allows video conferencing systems to use more than two locations.
  4. ~Data compression~ a way to fit audio into a smaller space and use less bandwidth.

Work in pairs. What would happen if you wanted a video conferencing system but didn’t have these item? Complete this table. Then take turns to say complete sentences.  

  • Encryption – wouldn’t be secure
